AGCI Job Description: Public Education & Outreach Intern
The Aspen Global Change Institute (AGCI) is seeking a motivated applicant for our Public Education & Outreach Internship. This is an unpaid summer position that lasts a minimum of 8 weeks, with 5 hours of work per week. A good candidate for this position will demonstrate a curiosity for science and global change topics, a strong work ethic, and an ability to self-direct in completing tasks. Applicants must be able to work well both independently and in a group setting.
The majority of this position is dedicated to furthering the outreach potential of AGCI’s scientific media archive. AGCI’s archive provides higher education-level learning materials accessible online, largely through filmed lectures given at AGCI workshops by leading researchers and practitioners in interdisciplinary environmental and earth science fields. The primary responsibilities of this position are: 1) to assist in the cataloguing of the archive; 2) to disseminate AGCI’s archive through video-sharing websites (such as YouTube); and 3) to research further outreach opportunities for AGCI’s archive and educational products. In addition to working with the archive, interns will also spend time researching outreach outlets for AGCI’s Energy Project, as well as be involved in AGCI’s ecosystem monitoring studies in the Roaring Fork Valley, CO.
– Currently enrolled undergraduate student studying earth systems, environmental science, environmental policy, or a related field
– Intellectual curiosity for a wide range of global change topics
– Self-motivated; attention to detail; clear writing and communication skills
– Comfort with word processing and basic spreadsheets
– Aptitude for working in a professional office environment
