Full-Time Program Director

Ute Springs Experiential Learning Center, based in the Vail area of Colorado, is seeking a full-time, year-round Program Director. We will fill either a Summer or School Program Director position, depending on the talents and interests of the chosen candidate and how she or he complements our existing staff.
Ute Springs empowers social-emotional leadership by fostering increased self-awareness, social-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship and leadership skills through an adventure-based, experiential curriculum. The Program Director assumes overall leadership of logistics, including staff selection and management, as well as day-to-day operations. The Program Director also provides leadership and instructional supervision for staff, interacts daily with families and community members, and is truly the face of Ute Springs Experiential Learning Center in the communities we serve.

What you will do:
Program planning and preparation including (but certainly not limited to):
Develop program curriculum
Work with executive director to develop annual budget
Help build enrollment within the community through various marketing activities. Activities and hours vary by site, but may include attending events, sending emails, calling families, or other community marketing efforts.
Lead hiring process of program facilitators and interns.
Participate in staff training and development meetings
Lead and manage staff, ensuring quality instruction, high energy, and overall performance
Meet with program facilitators weekly for program meetings and debriefs
Work full time during programs: 55-65 hours during multi-day programs (attendance at overnights may be required – must be available during program hours including overnight programs)
Run daily operations of programming, creating a high energy, fun, creative and intentional SEL (social-emotional learning) experience for children, that also include our C.A.R.I.N.G. values (compassion, adventure, relationships, integrity, nature, and giving back).
Communicate regularly with Executive Director
Communicate daily with parents
Manage costs, including supplies and staffing
Develop relationships with facilities partners and ensure facility is well maintained and left in excellent condition
Manage on-site logistics as needed
Maintain compliance with our child care licenses (certifications, reports, etc.).
Support other Ute Springs program areas as needed
You’ll love this job if you…
Enjoy being outside with kids
Are a college graduate
Have at least three years of experience in youth education with a minimum of 480 documented hours
Have experience working with 2nd-12th grade children
Have a clean driving record with reliable transportation
Have CPR & First Aid certification
Have demonstrated leadership experience
Are able to pass a background check
Are able to attend required overnights
Are flexible, trustworthy, creative, and positive; a leader who works well in teams, is performance-oriented, inspiring, energetic, organized, detail-oriented, communicative, fun-loving, and a good problem-solver
Bonus points if you…
Have experience driving 15 passenger vans and pulling trailers
Are experienced with staff selection and have management experience a plus
Are Wilderness First Responder trained
Have a degree or emphasis in Outdoor Recreation and/or Experiential Learning & Education
Salary Range: $34,000 – $40,000/year, with health stipend
