Job Description

POSITION: Fisheries Technician I

START & END DATE: ~ March 5, 2018 – November 16, 2018
PAY RATE: $14.00 – $15.00 / hour, depending on experience and education
LOCATION: Grand Junction, Colorado
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: February 2, 2018 @ 5:00 PM or until position is filled
JOB DESCRIPTION: Successful applicant will work as a member of a fishery inventory crew to
collect fishery information in the Grand Junction area and throughout Northwest Colorado as
needed. Work includes the collection of biological, chemical, and habitat information in streams
and lakes to be used for fisheries management purposes. A large part of the job involves
electrofishing, gill netting, trap netting, and seining. Applicant will frequently work on non-native
fish control projects on the Colorado, Yampa, and White Rivers. This position requires work in
inclement weather and frequent overnight travel will be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 Valid driver’s license
 Experience towing trailers
 Ability to work well as part of a team
 A good attitude
Additional desirable qualities:
 Experience with fish sampling techniques
 Rafting experience
 Fish identification experience
Technician must be willing to frequently travel and work in inclement weather. Late night work,
irregular hours, and weekend work will be required, as needed.
