Internship Campaign Office Intern

Job Description

Routt County Democrats are seeking a part-time student intern to help with the 2018 campaign. Intern will assist local Field Organizer with all aspects of local campaign field office management, including:
• Canvass volunteer coordination
• Voter registration
• Canvass volunteer “walking map/packet” organization
• Voter Action Network (VAN) database daily updating
• General office assistance
• Coordinate information with candidates for:
– State government (Governor, Attorney General, etc)
– National government (US Congress)
– Local government (County Commissioner, Sheriff, etc)

Requirements: no specific experience in campaign work is necessary, but the successful candidate will be:
• Committed to Democratic/progressive ideals
• Hardworking self-starter able to work without close supervision
• Reasonably computer proficient; familiar with standard office software/email
• Detail-oriented; able to correctly transfer data to database

Timing/Hours: this internship position will begin in early September and run just past the midterm election on Nov 6th. Hours are flexible, but a commitment of at least 5 hours/week would be appreciated.

• This is an unpaid/volunteer position
• Routt County Democrats are happy to work with academic counselors to develop a curriculum description to allow intern to receive school credit

Location: Routt County Democrats will be taking a small office in a central location in Steamboat Springs. Intern will work primarily from this office, but may be able to complete data entry work from home/school.
